ITALIAN BUTTER COOKIES

226 gm butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 egg
2 1/4 cup plain flour
pinch salt
1 tablespoon milk
100 gm pkt glace cherries quartered

Preheat oven to 350 f (180 c).
line a baking tray.

In a mixer, cream together butter and sugar.

Add vanilla, milk and egg. 


Slowly mix in flour and salt.

Use star tip fitted on a piping bag to make a swirl and then press a piece of cherry into the center.

Bake 8-10 minutes.

Cool on rack.

i found these very hard to pipe so
if you don't have a piping bag or don't want to pipe, roll teaspoonfuls of mix into balls and place a piece of cherry in centre.
not as pretty but taste the same.
